Description

Discover the art of batik in a relaxed, hands-on session where colour, texture and experimentation come together.

Using cold wax and ink on cotton fabric, you will explore how to build layers of colour while creating delicate resist patterns. The process is simple yet beautifully unpredictable; the wax blocks the ink, allowing soft bleeds, subtle textures and organic shapes to emerge.

Working from a hummingbird inspired design, you will be guided step by step, with plenty of freedom to interpret it in your own way. Whether you choose bold, vibrant tones or something softer and more muted, each piece develops its own character as the layers build.

There is no pressure to get it “right”; this is about playing with the process, embracing imperfections, and enjoying the rhythm of making. By the end of the session, you will have a unique textile piece full of movement, colour and texture.

A calm, creative experience designed to feel easy, exploratory and quietly satisfying; very much in the spirit of SoCro.
