Following my personal experience where a number of family members died from cancer, I wanted to make another worthwhile contribution to society. This time the aim was to raise funding to fight Cancer, a plague that affects so many people today. According to Cancer Research UK annual review 2005 / 2006, more than a quarter of a million people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK which means that one in three of us will develop cancer at some point in our lives and one in four will die from it (in 2004, there were 153, 397 deaths from cancer). Last year alone, Cancer Research UK spent £257 million on research – £35 million more than the previous year. Virtually all of this money was given by generous people and organisations across the UK.
The exhibition took place at the Light Gallery in Marble Arch between 7th and 10th June. 25 artists were showcased; abstract, still life, figurative or landscape, there was something for all tastes. Click here to view the artwork. exhibited.
